CasaBlanca Golf Course
Hole By Hole Playing Tips

Hole 1 Par 4
This is a good beginning hole, slightly downhill, relatively easy and straightforward with a slight dogleg right. Golfers should get off to a good start with a par or better on this hole.

Hole 2 Par 5
A beautiful par 5 with no major hazards except fairway bunkering on the right, until the golfer gets near the green. To the right of the green, a "beach bunker" stands guard between the water to the right of the green. This second hole should be played conservatively to set up a positive attitude for the golfer to challenge the rest of the course.

Hole 3 Par 4
A short par 4 where the tee shot is the key with enough distance and loft to carry the water. Aim at the pine tree behind the green. Use an appropriate club to set up your position for a short iron to the heavily bunkered green. The direction and strength of the wind will make all the difference on this hole.

Hole 4 Par 3
A par 3 adjacent to the Virgin River with natural wetlands to the left from tee-to-green. A slight bailout to the front right side allows you a chance to get "up and down" for par.

Hole 5 Par 4
This #1 handicap hole is long and deceptive. It will play a little shorter if you hit a great tee shot 225 yards straight at the green. You'll still have a difficult shot over the bunkers fronting the green. The best entry to this green is from the left side of the fairway. If you can clear the trees on the grass knoll in the center of the fairway, you'll be faced with a much easier shot into a green that opens up from the left side. It's a tough hole in any case and generally plays into the wind.

Hole 6 Par 5
This hole plays slightly uphill and is well bunkered. The length makes this par 5 tough to reach in two, unless wind is blowing from the southwest. Most golfers will take at least three shots to get to the green, which is heavily protected on the right side by deep bunkers. The best approach to the green is from the left side of the fairway.

Hole 7 Par 4
Problems abound from tee to green. An out-of-bounds area and a lateral hazard lay to the left off the tee, a hidden bunker is waiting to the right off the tee, and water lies to the right all the way to the green. The second shot plays downhill with traps fronting the middle to the right side of the green as well as behind it. The green doesn't hold anything except a very high, soft second shot. So if you approach it with a mid-iron or wood, try to land the ball short of the green to the left of the front trap.

Hole 8 Par 3
What you see is what you get on this relatively long, challenging and beautiful par 3. It has a waterfall, lake, and menacing beach bunker guarding the right side of the large undulating green. There is bailout space to the left of the green but don't go too far as you'll be in the desert.

Hole 9 Par 4
Aim at the CasaBlanca sign in the far distance off the tee because water on the right is prevalent off the tee. The second shot plays uphill and hidden bunkers on the left and right sides of the green are deep and challenging.

Hole 10 Par 4
This hole plays slightly downhill with a 25-foot drop from the tee to the green. Off the tee, a hidden bunker on the left side of the fairway comes into play as well as an out-of-bounds area to the left all the way to the green. A lake flows down the entire right side all the way to the green. A beach bunker guards the green on the right. A good tee shot is the key to this challenging par 4 to start the back nine.

Hole 11 Par 5
Feast or famine. This deceptive medium length par 5 can relinquish eagles (with two long straight shots and a putt) or birdies (with three good shots and a one-putt or chip in), pars (anyway you want), or up to double-pars if your ball finds any of the trouble spots along the way. There is an out-of-bounds area to the left and a lake to the right from tee to green, a hidden bunker to the left off the tee, bunkers on the left side short of the green, and a large bunker to the right of the split-level green.

Hole 12 Par 4
This tough par 4 plays downhill with a slight dogleg to the right. Out-of-bounds and desert are on the left from the tee. The right side is guarded by a large fairway bunker and lateral hazard further to the right. The second shot must carry the hazard or you can play to the left into the narrow opening to avoid the trouble. The green is bunkered on the left side and slopes from back to front.

Hole 13 Par 4
Risk-reward says it all on this short par 4 which plays uphill all the way. Trouble in the desert abounds if you duff your drive. Your tee shot must carry the desert and land 80-100 yards short of the green to avoid the bunkers lining to the left and right side of the fairway, or you can "go for the gold" and try to drive the green! It's fun and challenging but a wayward tee shot can turn an easy hole into a nightmare. The green has two levels and you do not want your ball to roll past the center of the green.

Hole 14 Par 3
This par 3 has birdie potential. Par is more likely and bogey is a definite possibility. Avoid the bunkers and allow for the wind which is usually a challenging factor. The green slopes from back to front.

Hole 15 Par 5
A slightly uphill par 5 that requires a straight tee shot played to the left of the bunkers and a straight second shot toward the left side of the green to avoid the bunkers left and water to the right of the landing area. The third shot must stay left of, or carry the bunker fronting the green which slopes from right to left. An honest par 5 hole with great birdie potential.

Hole 16 Par 3
From the back tee box this beautiful par 3 has forced carry over the pond and stream. From the other tees the lake is on the left side with a huge beach bunker guarding the left side of the green, another bunker behind the green, and beyond that natural desert wasteland. Don't go long! Proper distance and direction off the tee are the keys to this hole.

Hole 17 Par 4
There is only one good way to play this second toughest hole on the course - hit your ball straight all the way from tee to green. Do everything in your power to avoid the natural wastelands along the entire right side, the fairway bunkers to the left off the tee, the natural wastelands down the left side on the second shot and the bunkers to the left of the green. One or two putt. Do that and you'll love this fantastic par 4.

Hole 18 Par 4
This par 4 closing hole is a good birdie opportunity that requires the tee shot to be in the center or left side of the fairway to avoid the bunkers down the right side and out-of-bounds to the left. A good second shot to the center of the green will take the bunkers left, right, and behind the green out of play, allowing a relatively straight and flat putt.
